How to Use a Rescue 8 Rappelling Descender?

When using a figure 8 to rappel, it's important to follow a few tips:

1. Attach the descender to a locking carabiner: Always connect the figure-eight descender to a locking carabiner to ensure the

device is secure to the harness during use.

2. Control the braking rope: When descending, always keep a firm hand on the braking rope. This allows you to control your

speed and stop the descent if necessary.

3. Avoid very fast descents: The figure-eight descender can generate a lot of heat during fast descents. Descend at a controlled

speed to avoid overheating the rope and the device.

4. Practice the reverse braking mode: On longer or steeper descents, use the reverse mode to increase friction and make control easier.

5. Use the appropriate equipment: Check that the figure-eight descender is compatible with the diameter of the rope being used.

This is essential for maintaining safety and control during the descent.
